Is LTD side stand shorter?

I have put 17" wheels on my 900 and the staock kickstand is a bit long now (really stands straight up). Are the LTD kickstands shorter due to the 16" rear wheel? It wiuld be an easy swap rather than cutting down the old one.
Thanks for your help Jim

I'm not sure if the kickstand is any shorter on the LTD. The 16" tire is a higher profile that the 18" so I believe that the difference in overall height is minimal. I have another possible solution for you. I ground off some material off the frame where the kickstand stops in the down position. This allows the stand to swing a little more forward and increases the angle. It allows my bike to rest properly with the 17" wheels. Don't forget to click this picture to make it larger. I know the note is too small:

Make sure you know whether or not the frame has moved in relation to the ground and which way. You have two different geomtries (frame/swingarm and sidestand/ground) working with each wheel/tire configuration. The closer the frame gets to the ground the less travel the side stand takes to reach the ground and the less lean you will have when you park. The above soultion is probably a nice way to fix the problem. I would just make sure thats what is happening before I start making more modifications.

In a somewhat related note, the 750 shock swap for a 400 is a great way to make the cagers nervous when you park next to them. They all think that my KZ is going over. Some of the more cautious have even come back out from diner to move their Lexus. I love Johnson county KS.

Thanks guys, this is a great fix. My frame is definitely closer to the ground and the bike rally sits up high right now. Testarossa, thanks for the picture, it does wonders. Your work has been great and many of us really appreciate you sharing your experiences and trials.
Thanks jim

Glad that I could help. I forgot to mention that you can grind some material away from the mating surface on the kickstand. That way you don't take too much away from the frame. I doubt that you'll need to take too much, but you never know.
