grab bar was created by 81kzjim
hi all, have been very busy working on bike. went front to back,top to bottom.cleaning/adjusting everything.front caliper rebuild/back brake cleaning/new chain and sprokets/ carb cleaning/oil change filter/plugs. anyway i did not like the look of bike with sissybar. took it off. now looking for orig.grab bar. anyone know where to look for new or used? will other kz bars fit maybe 900/1000/police?

I have a very nice "short" KZ grab bar that I could be persuaded to part with.WILL NOT fit the 81 and up J bikes.I also have a "long" bar for the 81 up J bikes that is painted black.which one do u need?bj

Check the cross-reference at Kawasaki.com... off the top of my head...

Frame grip (grab bar)
1981-83 KZ650-CSR
1981-83 KZ750-Ltd-4 (chain drive) & probably the 80 model.

Also, I have hunch that the grab bar from a 80-82 750E Standard-4 would work.
The bike shares some parts w the models above. The grip is more squarish.

hi bj. i'm looking for short one that mounts to shock bolts and comes up just behind seat. i'm sorry i don't know what u mean by (J) bikes.

sorry.I just looked at ur sig and ur working on a 650.The grab bars I have are for kz 1000s. if they will fit ur still welcome to it.bj

For a direct bolt-on you'll need to get one from the bikes I listed. It's doubtful that one from a 1000 will work. Nor from a smaller bike than your 650. Keep it simple & get one that fits the cross-reference. I bet there are several on ebbaayy.

I looked on ebbaayy, but there were only one or two. You may have to keep checking weekly. Sometimes you just have to be patient.

Some search criteria: KZ650, KZ750, frame grip, grab bar, sissy bar (some folks list the stock frame grip thusly). Also, search the Kaw part number. And post a wanted ad here on KZR.

question for u JMKZHI. i think we have the same bike if so. does your side stand when down let your bike lean way over?i feel that mine is way to short, bike leans very hard to port/left. any ideas or is this normal?

Yes, I have an 81 650-CSR. It sounds like yours is bent or something.

With the bike on the center stand & the side stand down, the heel of the side stand is 5-1/4" above the floor. And if you grab it & pull up/out on it, it is rock solid.
