Small pressure gauge "finally"

For a long time I have been looking for some SMALL "low pressure" pressure gauges.
Our bikes run very low oil pressure and low fork pressure. I have been wanting to mount some gauge to monitor especially my fork pressure.
I have finally found one from Mr. Gasket. It tops off at 15Psi and will be perfect. The whole gauge measures only 1.6" and the scale is 1.3"

One of those on the forks would be fun to watch on a rough road or coming down from a wheelie or into a stoppie. Who needs to watch the raod !

The problem with fork pressure is that it is never what you think it is and it is never even from tube to tube. I plan on mounting an equalizing tube between the two tubes and mount this in the line. Now I will be able to fill them as required with minimum hassle. The pressure on these bikes should be between 4-9Psi and oil pressure about 3Psi. This gauge will be perfect for both.

And other than a bicycle pump which wont reach the ground, there are few sources of air that will put that small amount in the tubes.Have a small gauge I got off Flea Bay on my crankcase for awhile.Old Kaws sure run low oil pressure.bj

With roller/needle bearings in the crank, low pressure is all that is required and there would be no way to achieve high pressure. You can raise the pressure a bit with an electric oil pump but not much. You might be able to get to about 7-8Psi.

I noticed that the gauge is actually a fuel pressure gauge. I am guessing that it would be ok in other services other than fuel? From a hydraulic standpoint it shouldn't matter and if it can handle fuel, oil shouldn't be any more harsh...but I'm not sure.

My fork pressure is supposed to be 8.5Psi Max. I have brought it to 11 a few times so this gauge is fine for that. The insides of the gauge are all metal bellows so it will work with any non corrosive liquid as well as any non corrosive gas.

If I recall, on my 550's, the pressure is to be set to about 8 to 11 psi with the bike on the center stand. Off the center stand it goes up by about 1 or 2 psi.

When it bottoms, I would expect it to get pretty high, but it depends on how you set the oil pressure too. The higher the oil level, the more progessive the air pressure will increase with fork travel.
