Production numbers for 1976 900 LTD's

Does anyone know exactly how many of the 900 LTD's were produced? I have heard only 2,000 & I have heard up to 5,000.

I recently purchased a 1976 900 LTD, with 21,000 original miles. The bike is all original, except fot the paint, which has been resprayed, to the original color & the tires are not original.

The frame # on the bike is KZ900B-503370, I assume that 3370 is the unit #. The engine # is Z1E110614. Does anybody know how this bike can be lowered approx. 1 to 2" in the rear?

Engine No. Range Z1E086001 - 117973

Reportedly, a limited run of 2000 units were built in Lincoln, Nebraska.
But if frame numbers were consecutive, it would be 5503.

Could install shorter shocks to lower rear end, but be careful to assure at full compression that the tire doesn't contact fender or tear out any wiring underneath the fender.
