well I guess that since most of us have a 19" front and a 16" or 18" rear I just can't wrap my mind around how he got a smaller diameter tire on a bigger rim. As best as I can recall most bikes I've seen only have a 16 or 18" rear wheel so that's how it would require explaining.

I have the same bike. No you cannot just flip the whole wheel around, despite the dual disks. The speedometer gear housing has a notch in it that indexes on a tab on the left fork. This keeps it from spinning with the wheel. Even if you did flip it around, the speedo cable wouldn't be able to screw into place, as this would put it on the front of the right fork. You have to dismount the tire to reverse it.

HI all,I have a 1980 KZ 1000 shaft e2. I have a dunlop tire on the front and noticed the that the rotation is backwards. Can I just turn the wheel around or do I have to take the tire off and remount it. thanks

Thinking oem wheels are front 19" (3.50V-19) and rear 17" (4.00V-17 or 4.50V-17).

 Which Dunlop size and model are shown on the sidewall?

Guessing 19" rear wheel might be found on some vintage bikes, but don't know if would have a rotational arrow.

Front wheels have come in sizes 16(?), 17, 18, 19, 21 and maybe others.

Memory banks saying 17" rear is a relatively uncommon size.

Seems to me most likely that the tire in question is a front wheel tire that was incorrectly installed.

Good Fortune! :)

Mine only got out about five feet from me... but it was dropping straight down from the end so I'm Ok with that....when you're my age, the prostate severely reduces the velocity.

I remember way back when I ran Avon Roadrunners on mine (3.25-19 front and 4.00-18 rear) both tires had dual fitment arrows on the sidewall. Maybe just to make sure they get put on right?
