Extended swingarm

Hello. I am new to the KZ world and am looking to make some mods. First of all my bike is a 1980 KZ1000 that I bought laying in the mud in my friends backyard. I have since tore it down to the bare frame and have a plan but was hoping for some help with dimensions on a extended swingarm. I have a mill, engine lathe, mig and tig welder so I am going to make my own(or attempt to). I am wanting to make one 4 inches longer than stock the question I have is what would the width need to be at the rear of the arm if I wanted to run a 18x5.5 rear rim with a 200mm rear tire? Any help anyone on here could offer would be great as im sure there has been somebody on here try or done this. Thanks.

Longer swingarms are a commodity on ebay!
There was a D&G extended swimgarm that sold cheap! Because it had 3 axle adjusting holes on it. Only went for $58.
The same time one sells for $250. Both chromeoly tubing.
Extend a stock one, buy a Suzuki GS.
I made a stock one 3 in longer. Used stock material to extend a stock one.
Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!

The best thing to do is find out what rear wheel you are going to use gsx-r, zx-12,busa etc etc etc. Because there is a diference in the hub width, for the most part your suzuki wheels are pretty much the same give or take a little. I will send you the measurements for the hayabusa gsx-r zx-14 zx-12 and honda 600rr if you want.

If you want to use a 200mm tire plan on using a 6" rim to get a proper tire profile. But like rslingshot said, find a rim and build your swingarm to suit.

you start using wheels of the new style bikes the chain line is way out and the tire will end up being offset to the right side to get the chain to line up so be carful check it befor you buy a wheel you cant use i hope this helps

i just got the tape out lol and here is the lowdown rslingshot might check this too just to keep me honest ok from the center of the tire to the center of the sprocket is just a 32nd under 4 1/2 in in mi opinon this is max with the 5/8 offset front sprocket and a 530 chain ( i used to use a 630 chain on my drag bike with no prob) so i would think any wheel that falls under these nombers would be ok to use ( i think lol)
