bearing size was created by KZnewbie1000
i looked at that catalogue but didnt see anything that would help. the biggest difference between them is in 1980 they used a ball bearing and 86 they used tapered roller bearings. would using a ball bearing set up work on the 86 frame? i dont know if they steering collar changed in size...

According to the list in the filebase, the 80 used SSK100 tapered bearings (everything in the list is for tapered bearings) while the 81 and newer LTD, CSR, And J, used SSK901 and 902 bearings, and I'm assuming the 86 is a KZ1000P cop bike frame? If so, it probably uses the same bearings as the LTD/CSR 81 and up. You can check that by going to the parts diagrams at kawasaki.com.

I just checked and the 86 P model uses the same bearings as the 81-83 M,K, and J, models (CSR, LTD, and Standard J) as well as a whole bunch of others.

So what you need is upper and lower bearings with the same ID as the 80 bearings, and the same OD as the 81-83 CSR/LTD bearings. All Balls should have the measurements listed for the bearings using the part numbers listed above.

Or do it the easy way and just call All Balls and tell them what you have and what you want to do, and they'll fix you up for $50 or so.:P

Thats what I did. Swapped '85 1000P triples onto GPz550 frame. All Balls sent me the right stuff first time, no problems
