Police bike triple tree

I've got a 1978 KZ 1000P. I'm curious as to what kind of bearings the triple tree has. And is there an updated bearing I can put in to improve the steering?

I believe it came with the same nasty ball bearings that Kawi used in virtually ever bike it has made. IMO, a set of tapered rollers would be an improvement.

I bought an '85 police front end, it came with tapered rollers. Not sure if they were OEM, or what years that info would apply to
