Kinky Chain

I replaced my chain and sprockets about 3 years ago,and only have about 5-6,000 miles on them.Sunstar sprockets and an RK O-ring chain. 630 series.(Overkill,I know) I noticed the other day that a coupple of links are kinda "stuck" a little up/down/up/down while the others are straight. Can I take off the chain and clean it out somehow and then re-oil it? I have been using Spectra's O-ring chain oil on it pretty regularly. It makes a sticky mess when the excess flings off,but it keeps it quiet.Bike is '80 750 LTDh.

I'd try using a chain cleaner to ensure that all of the crud is out of the links and then lube it and see if that helps. I know a lot of off road guys have to do this to get all of the sand and what not out of the chain. They say it increases the chain life so it may be worth a try. In a pinch I've used WD-40 and a tooth brush to break down the grime to get it clean then whipe it down with a rag and then use my normal lube.

Some riders insist on getting daily chain adjustments.

just get a new chain..if after a few tries lubing and cleaning and it still comes back...if the sprockets are decent i can get two chains out of em...if your doing burnouts and stuff(your avatar) there may be a stretch in the chain....hard launches and burnouts and stuff "can" eat chains imo.....

Bike shop guys said to take it off and soak it in some kerosene for a bit.I got the chain cleaner brush they were hawking, and a can of Bel-Ray O-ring chain lube. The parts guy said he uses it,and so does the service dept.Guess I got a side project tomorrow.

try the simple green and carwash trick first before tearing it all apart, take chain gaurd off to make it easier to clean up at the carwash
