Front fork compatability 1982 kz550

Hi all Im new to the forums and I ahve a old kz550 A3. The front forks no longer hold air and I had to use the tubes from a A2 to make it functional. (old onew were bent)
Online I found a 1982 LTD front forks and I was wondering if they were compatible? If not what would be the differance in over all length.

Thanks in advance

I am not familiar with the 550s, but on the 1000s, the LTD forks placed the axle in front of the tube rather than at the bottom. If that is also true of the 550s, you may also need to have the LTD brake rotor(s) and caliper(s). A quick check of the parts diagrams on the Kawasaki website should at least tell you which parts the two models share.
I'd be surprised if the length was significantly different, but I've been surprised before...............

I just took a quick peak at the Kawi site, and it seems that the LTDs have different forks from the A model bikes. Now the question is, how are they different? Hopefully a 550 expert will chime in soon.

I guess the other option would be to replace the spring with a stronger one and not worry about the air assist.

That would probably be the least complicated solution. If the old springs are pretty close to what you need, some pvc spacers might do the trick. If these are original or really old springs, they likely need replacing.

I'm new the forum and this will aid me thru the rebuild of my kz1000. I want to know what year and models are interchangeable with an 81 kz1000. I am currently consigdering forks and breaks from a 95 zx900. Will these swap out?
