Tire compatibility ?

Have an opportunity to pick up a new Avon AM23 rear tire 130-70-18 for the rear of my 78 project bike,(real cheap 25 bucks) I've read the AM22 front is the match, but don't think they are available, which current Avon would be a match? Trying to save some money, the rims and S/S spokes are gonna take a big bite out of me

I believe the 23 is discontinued. make sure that it is no more than 7 years old. That is the maximum shelf life recommended by Avon. The matching compounds available today for the AM23 would be an AM21 or AN26. The AM26 would be my choice all the way around. I have been using Avon tires since 1979 and will never use anything els.
