confused about rim sizes was created by Topper
I've got a 1988 KZ305 LTD with some badly corroded spoke wheels.

I'd like to replace the wheels and am trying to figure out what size rims I need.

My tire sizes are:

front: 90/90-19
rear: 120/90-16

Will any 19" rim work for the front? and any 16" for the rear? Or do I need specific widths?

If I find used rims off a different KZ model/year are they likely to be compatible?

Thanks!

axle size and hub width are two main concerns.speedo drive has to be takin into consideration as well.
how bout just buying some new rims(hoops)off ebay that have the right diameter and width with the proper amount of spoke holes and getting some spokes from www.buchananspokes.net/
and getting the new rims laced on to your hubs?
just a thought,hth.

Actually the rims and hubs aren't in too bad of shape. They're probably salvageable. It's the spokes that are really toasted.

Looks like a new set of spokes would cost about $100 per wheel. Any idea what it costs to have the spokes replaced?

You could do it your self.
Have the tire removed.
All that is needed is a spoke wrench,a set of
jack stands and a way of measuring run out.

So if I do decide to replace the wheels, I need to look for rim diameter, axle size, what else?

Is there any resource out there where I can look up which other KZ years/models might have wheels that are compatible with mine?
