About to rebuild the front master cylinder and the paint looks like crap. I thought about blasting all the paint off and hitting it with some clear. I'd polish it but don't have the time.

Thoughts?

And yes it will be thoroughly cleaned prior to reassembly

You might consider using paint stripper instead. You surely would not want any accidental blasting to the interior of the cylinger.

The issue I think with paint stripper would be it attacking the seal on the sight glass. I assume there is a rubber seal under the chrome ring around the glass.

i'm just starting to use my new sand blaster...but i notice if i duct tape and exacto knife clean edged any not to be blasted areas, then screw the piece through an existing hole to a piece of pine, then screw the pine to a tree at head/shoulder height...the piece works down quicker...the piece cant get damaged by rolling awya or flipping around, and i can walk around it to hit tight spots and the tape peels away leaving anything needed undamaged...

so yes you could easily sand blast it as long as you duct tape the important areas...this is how i will be doing small parts from now on and it works tits

I used blue masking tape to protect my frame tag from sandblasting.
