So I have a cracked clutch perch and every one I look at is cracked. I was thinking about taking it to work and welding it up but does anyone know if theyre aluminum or magnesium? How can I tell? Anyone else having this same problem and if so other than buying a brand new one is it possible to fix?

I have actually purchased 2 perches from ebay and even considered some of the listings that pop up in that search. Both of the perches I bought both had cracks in them but appear to be in great shape so I dunno. I looked them over in the pics in the listing. So does anyone think I will have a problem welding up the crack in cast aluminum?

you(or someone skilled at welding aluminum)will have no problem welding them back together.i have done it,and am still running it(clutch perch) and fixing to have to repair the one for my z1r front brake lever as i can't find a replacement.
just follow the normal pre weld prep for alu. and weld away it is cast aluminum.
