KZ750B twin speedo/tach bulbs
04 Sep 2010 11:09
Please, could Kawasaki have made it just a little more difficult to change light bulbs on the tach/speedometer? I do like a challenge, but seriously, does anyone really replace these bulbs, or just ride around in the dark because it's so labor intensive?
And, now, with a hundred parts on the floor,
what's up with all this disintegrating rubber, making it so difficult to pull the bulbs once the meter is out?
And what about that sorry foam padding between meter and mount, now just dust. It looks like someone was just creamated and stuck in between there.
Please, a little cheese with this whine.
Is there a source for these annoying parts?

One tiny screw, and two 8 mil nuts is labor intensive. LOL.. ok if you say so.

My main gripe is I have to remove the fairing to get at them. You can find similar type bulbs at Pep Boys or Kragens. I recall they are 4W bulbs, single filament.

id suggest using neoprene foam to replace that old dry crap in there. if you have no cushion between the gauges and mounts they will jump like crazy...ask me how i know this

Why not just replace all the rubber donuts that are supposed to be there with new OEM? Since I have replaced all of mine I'm pretty sure they are still available.
IIRC there are only two between the gauges and the bracket, and two on each gauge bracket stud. And while you're there replace the handlebar rubbers.

I think the original bulbs are 12v 3.4w Stanley bulbs. If you get the 4w ones make sure they look bright enough before you button everything up. It's been a long while, but I seem to remember that I tried 4w ones when I replaced mine and they weren't as bright as the 3.4 (even though I thought they would be brighter). Of course, it could just be my memory that is not very bright. Ed

An old mouse pad makes good gauge cushions.
