My rear caliper seems to be dragging... Haven't had a chance to take a closer look at it yet but was wondering if you guys had some possible causes of this that you could share??

Three of the more common causes are-

1. Rust/dirt/crud on the pedal pivot.

2. Rust/dirt/crud in the caliper.

3. Rust/dirt/crud on the caliper slides or pins.

Believe it or not I've had success by just pumping some clean fluid through the caliper.

I'd try that along with everything TexasKZ suggested before I tried to rebuild the caliper.

Might also check the pads to ensure that they are not too worn. Extremely thin pads can lead to piston over-extention, causing the piston to cock in the bore. The piston then becomes stuck.

Mine was dragging because the lube on the caliper pins was old and gunked so the caliper couldn't float like it's supposed to.. I removed the pins (one at a time) and put new lube on and it worked great.

Try the other simpler things first, but if it ends up that you need to rebuild the caliper, pay special attention to the groove that the piston seal sits in. That groove needs to be clean because that is what retracts the piston. When the piston moves out, the square cross section of the rubber seal deforms outward into the chamfer of the groove. When you let up on the pedal, the ruber seal tries to restore its shape, and this is what retracts the piston a tiny bit.
