KZ650 H1 Tank Interchangeability

Hello all,
Trying to figure out what other tanks will fit on the650 CSR h1 frame. I see the H2 will fit, and probably H3, but any other models that fit pretty well? Thanks for any help!

Actually the 650 H1 tank is unique in that the petcock location is more rearward due to the fact that it uses VM series carbs. The H2 And H3 tanks will mount up ok but the petcock is in the wrong location and will cause you problems. The H2 and H3 used CV type carbs.

The 81-83 KZ750-Ltd-4 tanks are probably the same as the 82-83 CSR tanks with the petcock bung in the same location as the CSR. You might be able to overcome the fitment issue if you can locate a stubby petcock. For instance a Suzuki aftermarket unit can be used on the 70s KZ650s w the 44mm bolt hole spacing. The Zook petcock is smaller than the KZ. I've never stumbled across one w the 34mm bolt hole spacing which is what the CSR has.

Ugh, sucks. Thanks. That gasket was impossible to find for the tank. So if there was something better with more part interchangeability that'd be sweet. But I guess I just gotta experiment.

So, your problem is locating a mounting gasket or o-ring for the petcock or fuel level switch?
The petcock mounting gasket is actually an o-ring. I believe the K&L rebuild kit comes w one. It did several years ago, anyway. Some places sell metric nitrile o-ring kits. The kit I got from HarborFreight has a size that appears to be nearly identical to the one in the K&L kit. It's 31.7mm OD & 3.5mm thick. You might be able to find a kit elsewhere & in the viton material. Also, the auto parts store might sell o-rings out of a similar kit.
