So as i said earlier, im in the process of coming back to the U.S., and bringing my bikes with me. One things i'm having difficulty with is proving the production year of my bikes. They are both old enough to be exempt from EPA and DOT testing, i just need to prove it. My titles are in japanese :(

That is OK they can be in Japanese. Just show on he title where it states the year and the production year and the rest of the burden is on the US. You can also prove it by the VIN #. If you want to do the work for the DOT. I think though that All you have to do is present the titles.

74 Z1-A stock
76 KZ-900 Totaly stock vice MAC pipe
77 KZ-1000A stock
78 Z1-R 100%MINT 500 original Mi.
78 Z1-R Yoshi 1103 kit stage 1 cams Yoshi pipe. Etc
79 KZ-1300 (1400)
80 KZ-1300
81 Scratch built GPz1150R
82 KZ1000

the problem here is that the year written on the titles is in japanese, i dont think they will understand it. For example, do you know what "showa 42" means? I think not, lol. I read up on how to import these bikes, the only thing i have to do is prove the years. They wont except my word. That would be great if there was VIN number look up somewhere that showed production dates.

I think I see your dilemma. So, I assume you are bringing back the following?:

1977 Z650B1
1991 GSX250
1987 CBR250R

The 650 won't be a problem as the VIN will get you a production date from a number of internet sites. The other two are problematical as they were Japanese models not exported to North America?

exactly. I did a bunch of research though, and it would seem that even JAP models can be imported if they are old enough. Bikes older than 25 years old are exempt from both EPA and DOT. I wont be bringing my suzuki, in fact its been sold already. Instead i will be bringing an XL250, 1982 model.

I don't know if it's the same, but when my wife came here she got her birth certificate "Certified Translation". Basically a translator who is known by the State, certified or a Notary (of sorts) does the translation and you get a seperate certificate with stamp.
