So, what doesn't fit? Too long, too short, too narrow, or too wide?

Would have thought the stock 630 KZ900 front sprocket would have wider spaced teeth than the 530 GSXR wheel sprocket.

The gsxr wheel might even have a 520 sprocket on it depending on the year. take the wheel to a bike shop and make sure. If its a 530 you can get a 530 sprocket for the kz at Z1E.

or it may even have the oddball 532 sized chain the best thing you can do is get right front sprocket in 530 and get the right rear in 530 as well also what is your spacing like you may need to go with an offset sprocket go to the jt sprocket web site to figure out your proper sizing and also what sprockets are available. measure center to center on the sprocket teeth if they are 1/2" apart then its 50 series chain if its 3/4" apart then its 60 series chain then measure the width of the sprocket if it's 3/8 thick its 530 or 630 if it's 1/4" thick then its 520 chain

Ok so here goes my first post ...
Am replacing a 30 year old chain on a KZ1000 CSR M1
Currently 630 chain, front sprocket 15, rear 39, ratio 2.60
Mechanic is suggesting chain 530, front 17, rear 46, ratio 2.70
BUT all the calculators that I have found from reading many posts here suggest chain 530, front 18, rear 47 to maintain 2.61 ratio.
IF I go with adjusted ratio as suggested by my mechanic
what can I expect?
He is saying that the Xring DID chain is superior to the oring chain and that with weight reduction I can expect 5hp increase.
Also says that ratio change will give me more top end speed and more revs per gear.
I really hope that he isn't a member on this site and readin this !!! - I'm just looking for a few other opinions prior to going with his suggestion. Love my ride and am looking to keep it as original as possible while making it smoother and running well.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

An 18 tooth front(engine sprocket) will not fit if it's a 630, but it should fit if you change to 530(I'd check with somebody in the know before ordering chain and sprockets).
