could you get a set of progressive springs and put them on a set of these skidoo shocks? that might end up being a little more money though...

The shock body is pretty much the same as the mcycle shock, so you could easily swap the spring and valving to be identical and still spend considerably less than you would if you bought the motorcycle model. It's possible to swap out the spring and valving, but unnecessary, they actually work quite well. I had ZRX shocks on this same bike prior to getting the Ohlins, the ZRX shocks were a bit softer riding. The ZRX shocks , when fitted on the 550 are just big looking, they are little out of scale with the 550. Both are light years better than the stock shocks, and both work well for riding solo or two-up.

They are short, 12.6" is a good inch shorter than stock shocks.

I am putting the shocks onto a swingarm with no mounts yet, so I can move the swingarm mounts forward to make up the extra inch in height. I read on some other site that people put them on kz650s and they are stiff, but good.

That may position them nearly vertical, to my eye piggyback shocks dont look right unless they are mounted at even more of an angle than the stock position. They may look strange mounted vertically. BUT like I said that is just my opinion....which means a lot , but only to me of course !

Just something to consider.

as u move the lower mount forward the shocks will become stiffer.
