kz750 shocks on 550
10 Aug 2010 15:12
I recently purchased shocks from a kz750 on ebay because they were the best looking and most affordable replacement for my beat up and pitted/leaking 550ltd rears. problem is, while the top eye mates up perfectly, the bottom eye from the 750 requires a 14mm bolt, while the 550 has a 10mm. does anyone know where i can get a spacer, or replacement bushing of some sort to make this fit? I'm not looking to modify my swingarm, and dont really want to have wasted my money on the shocks and have to get yet
another set.
another set.

You need to make you a sleeve out of some tubing or pipe.

If you have some calipers, measure the inside diameter of the mounting sleeve in the shock and the outside diameter of the bolt and that will tell you what size the sleeve needs to be to make up the difference .
I think the difference between a 10mm and 14mm bolt would be 4mm which is about 0.16" (sleeve wall thickness would be half that).
