Big Crotch Rocket muffler
12 Apr 2006 12:34
Hi, has anyone seen a KZ with one of those big, crotch rocket mufflers (at a 45 degree angle to the ground like they usually are on rockets). I went to the dealership today for some parts, and man are those new plastic bikes ugly, but I do like their speedo/tach's and exhaust (I admit it!).
All I need to do is find my pipe, bend up some tube, and fab a mount right? Anybody see why this would be harder than I think?

That is my plan.....I did it before, and I'll do it again! You can either look for a 4 into 1 and a single used canister off of a 1200-1300cc bike (that origionally had dual pipes), or keep the 4 into 2 and find some slip ons for a 650cc bike. All you need is to fabricate the header to slip on connector.
I see you already have a 4 into 1, so I would use a right side canister off a 1200 or 1300.\ sport bike.

I have an exhaust off of a zx6. It was easy to put on and sounds really good.

Nice, but I thought I came up with a pretty original idea . Oh well, some good advice and looks like this project won't be too complicated (or importantly, too expensive). Those silly crotch boys change their mufflers all the time... I bet it won't be hard to find their originals on pirate bay.

Those exhaust cans are all over ebay, cheap. OEM cans can be picked up quite reasonably, aftermarket start costing more, depending on the flavour of the month. I picked up a Hindle Stealth can for less than $100 including shipping, just in case my little straight through Hindle Grogle Pot gets me a ticket.
