Any arm where the wheel is centered in the arm should work. Getting the geometry for the shock mount is the tricky part but it can be done. I would use an arm off of a bigger bike due to the engineering involved for a heavier bike. I wouldn't use an arm off of a modern 500 for an old 900.

Early GSXR arms work well, as do late model GSXR1000 and Hyabusa. Below is my 77' KZ1000 with an 87 GSXR750 swingarm. Although I went with the dual shocks, I could have kept the single shock setup.

It's about 3 inches longer and fits right in between the frame with no mods. You'll need to have a machinist make you some inserts to press into the GSXR inner bearing sleeves to reduce them to fit the stock pivot bolt. Axle diameter is the same but you'll need a longer bolt, either the Gixxer one of call your machinist again like I did.

Off course you'll need a longer chain and you have to deal with the rear brake (I modded the gixer one....but don't go there!!).

I run a 150 rear tire on a WM6 (3in) rim and it works great.
