Hayabusa front end on a KZ1000?
25 Jul 2010 13:35
Has anybody used a hayabusa front end on KZ1000? Can get one cheap but not sure how much of a pain it will be to get it on the bike?

Search threads by "Irishwill" (Ben). He's done it many times and it appears fairly straightforward. If you do the forks surely you are going to do the swingarm and wheels right?

I believe irishwill favors the GSXR1000 forks vintige '05+, thought I confess I have no idea on interchangability between the those and the Busa legs

roynor's j model project has a busa frontend on it.i converted the lower tree over to a kawi stem for him.
putting a busa frontend on is pretty much the same as any sport bike frontend swap.you have to convert the stem then it bolts on,and you have to figure out if you are going to use clip on bars or mod the upper triple clamp for bar clamps.i have a frontend i have put together with irishwills billet upper triple and a gsxr 1000 (stocker from irishwill)lower triple clamp and busa legs.i am going to use one of irishwills billet stems that fits the gsxr on bottom and the kz on top.i still need another older style(non mono block brakes)leg for a busa as one of mine has a bent chrome tube.

Leon, how much would you charge to get a 01 gxsr front end working on a 80 KZ1000?

Blackbanshee: I would be interested in knowing the same information as I'm going to the junk yard tomorrow and can pick out about any front end I want as our motorcycle junkyard here is huge. Since you have some experience in this it would seem to make sense to maybe pay you to machine the parts rather than try to get the specs just right to give to a local shop. Let me know. Thanks
