531blackbanshee- in fact this is the first chassis we have built, my father in-law has been around the kz's his whole life but has never built a chassis, just struts and wheelie bars. we've been planning this project for a few years and made sure we had everything pre-planned.

irishwill- the swingarm is built from scratch. only thing we bought "PRE-MADE" was the axle adjusters and the axle.

as for the raking, i have an older post on here that shows our setup. it is dialed in at 38.5 degrees exactly. That was he angle we settled on, did a lot of asking around at the track and talking to some chassis builders.

basically we machined a block to fit in the handlebar clamps, we anchored a plate on the seat rails, then fed a long piece of ready rod hrough the block and fixed it to the plate we tacked to the rails, we then used a jam nut and bearing set up on the end of the ready rod at the end by the handlebar clamps, that setup gave us full control of the angle. we cut relief notches, heated the neck and tightened the jam nut til we reached he desired angle of 38.5 degrees.

sorry if it is hard to understand, i tried to write out wut we did lol.

here is a link to the old thread showing our set up, it also shows some of the early stages of he swingarm

Nice work, what are you planning for bodywork? It looks like the tailpiece will be angled way up, not a slam- seen loads of Z1's like that.

Jack- i got all my bodywork from Beasley composites, and bout the angle of the back end, it looks like more han i is. Once he tail piece is mounted up it doesnt look so angled.

Im planning on running a 1200, but for the next year or so im just gonna be running a 1015 10.5:1, wih stainless pro flow valves. Pretty mild, just for getting the chassis tested out and to get comfortable on it. Im hoping to have the 1200 built this winter, but we'll see how the finances go.
