Swapping 16" wheel for 18". was created by Rail
Great forum ..I have been reading here for a while and I need some help. Thought you guys would be the best ones to ask.
I am trying to fit an 18" rear wheel to a 1980 KZ1000LTD. that has the 16" wheel. I have the wheel and it is off of a late 70's police bike. Everything matches up except the disc for the brake likes around a 1/4" to match up with the caliper. Also a little short on caliper side of wheel at axle but I can use a big washer or 2 for that. Anyway, What I need to know is what would be the best way to go about this. Spacing the disc out some with a spacer or another disc that may work? Thanks for any info

I'd make a spacer for the disc. If it is really only 1/4" it should be easy to match drill, and then finish the inside and outside with a lathe.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationYou should get the caliper mount for the bike which the wheel came from. There were three distinct rear disc sizes on Kawasaki bikes and they varied in about .5" increments. Unfortunately in your case you will have to also use the older stile caliper. It was one piece with the bracket.

So if I got the rest of the parts that go with the 18" wheel like caliper and bracket, it should work? I do have the disc that came with the wheel and it is larger diameter. Is the LTD frame different in width or anything than the KZ1000A or P at the rear wheel mounting? Thanks
