79 650 sr tool box

I have attempted to identify and find the factory tool box which was originally under my seat. I found one used on ebay for around 15 dollars but it didn't look in too good shape. Does anyone know if maybe I could find one that is in new or at least very good condition?

Thanks Patton, do you know if these are complete? Is there a tool kit that goes with them? How are they secured?

Just happened to find these on ebay along with some others. And further listings include both tool box and battery box.
No tool kit would be a very safe bet.
I know nothing about any of the ebay sellers involved.

Would guess the tool box attaches somehow under the seat.

See below the diagram from kawasaki.com and a list of models using the same tool box.

Members more familiar with KZ650's will have better advice.

I have one on my 750. The box just fits snug between the battery box and the frame. I tried a long time to find an OEM tool kit to go on my bike. I just finally got the box and put in stubby tools which work fine.

That's similar to the KZ650 tool kit, but like nearly all I've ever seen on eBay it's not quite right. In this case, a couple things wrong is it's missing the rear axle nut wrench, and the little "t-handle" gizmo. Ed

If you go to Kawasaki.com, the part number can be located in the diagrams for your bike & the cross-reference will show what bikes have the same tool case. Using the part number on ebbaayy might help in finding a NOS part... be sure to check-mark the Include-title-&-description box when searching by part number.

The motorcycle salvage yard near me has a pile of vintage tools. Maybe there's a place near you.

I gave that a shot at Kawasaki.com but the site is apparently down. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks

A little slower than usual, but parts diagram pulled up a few seconds after clicking on it.

Tank bags and tail bags do a good job of holding tools. I got a little joe rocket one that would hold my tools and lunch for about 20.00 on ebay. Works well and other than looking like a man purse when I'm off the bike I liked it.
