Tire Mounting troubles. was created by 1981kz550ltd
I bought a new front wheel for my bike. the one on there, that black has faded. I bought two new Bridgestone spitfire s11 tires, RWL. since the new rim to me is off the bike, i decided to try and mount the new tire. i got it on, but i can not get the bead to seat properly. the line that goes around the tire is not coming out at one spot. ive tried everything. its just not seated on the rim properly. do you guys have any tricks or pointers??

Does it have a tube, if so it may be bunched up inside......What I usually do is put a little pressure in it to get the bead to seal then bounce it on the ground and most of the time it does the trick, if it doesnt then I let the air out and do it again untill it seats the right way. It can be a PITA sometimes.

x2

sometimes i put a LOT of air in it...you can remove the valve stem so the air goes in fast and while its empty spray a tiny bit of water with some dawn dish liquid around it... if that doesnt dom it you can also take it to shop with a big air supply and have it given a good blast -stem out...it should seat then...bouncing with the stem in too helps...80 psi for a few seconds and a bounce or two should not hurt the tire...imo...

when working with tubes I use baby powder/talcum powder on tire insides and dust the tube, then carefully use liquid soap on just the bead, works everytime. Duke

try putting small/narrow binder strap around center of tire then ratchet down tight to seal bead.Remember to loosen the ratchet as you add air, works for me. Duke

Its tubeless. and We got it to seat once, not centered though, and put it up to about 60, the bead was lubed with dish soap and a little water, and we beat it with a hammer. and no luck. we took a motorcycle ratchet strap also, and that didnt work. idk why is being such a pain. unless the tire is defective.

dude.... let the air out by pulling the stem...spray with dawn soap solution..install the stem and put a 100 lbs in it...take it and bounce it on a hard smooth concrete floor...bounce it between your hands a good foot or two...do this ten times with 100 psi...it WILL seat.....

also rotate it a bit back and forth while empty and spraying it...

It takes a lot of air pressure to seat the bead. My mechanic fixed my first attempt at mounting my own tires and told me to ignore that warning about not putting in more than 1.5 times the max psi.

My last three tire mounts went much smoother. Lots of windex on the rim and aired up to about 100 psi (my compressor only goes to 110). You can watch the bead as it starts to expand and then pop into place. A bit scary the first time you do it. No need for straps or bouncing with the ones I mounted.
