Applying emblems

I recently purchased a 1988 KZ305 LTD. It's missing the tank emblems. In fact, I don't see anything to screw the emblems into either. But all the replacement emblems I'm finding have screw holes.

What's the deal? Do I have an after market tank or something?

Thanks!

Possibly the previous owner used a filler on the screw holes and repainted the tank.

www.reproductiondecals.com sells emblems. I'd think glueing in some dummy screws and then use some of the 3m emblem adhesive would work.

Yeah I guess that's possible too. Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen some KAW emblems that don't have screw holes, but they're not from this vintage. The bike's been painted a non-factory color and I'm not sure that gold emblem from this period will look good on it anyway.
