loc-tite on steering head nut?
02 Jul 2010 05:11
just replaced my steering head bearings, and after riding about 15 miles, theres some slop in the steering tube, should I have used loctite on the nut that clamps the bearing down? I'm thinking some grease was in there and it vibrated out that quickly, the roads around here are really bad and 15 miles prob couldve done that.

just take the slack up on the spanner with the front end lifted...-free----let the fork upper bolts loose...let the head nut draw down the top tree and tap with rubber mallet while tightening the spanner then bolt pretty tight......tighten the forks and finish torque the stem bolt....the forks should lightly flop to the side when set at center and raised...you may hgave just left some adjustment and drove it loose....

No loctite required. Probably things just weren't seated all the way and riding moved them into place. Ed
