A Question Concerning Collars/Spacers On My LTD

hi.
i just had the rear wheel of my 1980 Kz1000 Ltd fitted with a new tire.
I think the collars/spacers of the rear axel did not come apart as my manual shows they should be upon reassembly.
Is it possible to assemble the components of the rear axel (collars/spacers) other than intended.
i mean, i got it together as *i believe* the manual shows and all is waiting to be torqued in, but i do not want to do so if it's not assembled correctly.

any input would be much appreciated.

There is a specific sequence that must be followed when reassembling the rear wheel. However, the rear wheel assembly is one of those areas of older motorcycles that typically has a higher incidence of 'issues'. This is probably due to having had either a series of owners or having been to a number of different bike shops. Those internal spacers/collars tend to get misplaced/replaced when the wheel comes apart for tire changing. So, what you have may not match what should be there. if the bike handled fine before the tire change and you have reassembled it in reverse order, then you are probably safe.

Go on Kawasaki.com and take a look at the parts diagram for your bike. It shows the parts in assembly order.

foolishly, i dropped the tire & did not see where the spacers fell from.

well gentlemen...
i researched and found several diagrams online.
i picked one in particular www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-1980-kz1000-b4-lt...partslist/61474.html to accompany the clymer manual that i have.
the clymers dialogue instructed a certain way to reassemble the rear axle, but it's accompanying diagram didnt match the instructions.
so i went ahead and interpreted the online diagram to a locked up rear end fail.
collar #4 sits pretty in the hub area of the sprocket.
i stuck the coupling (#13) on in the hub of the disc and on the left side of the caliper, and i stuck collar #23 on the right side of the caliper between the caliper & the swing arm.
after torquing to spec, the rear wheel wouldnt move.

coincidentally, #23 also sits deeper in the hub right under the coupling(#13)
is 23 sitting under 13 the proper set-up?
