KZ750B Drive chain?

30 Jun 2010 16:14
#379285
I am spending too much time surfing chain opinions and getting nothing. Need a new chain but not sure what to get. It's the 530 chain and I'm going 18/38, I am very financially challenged right now and them 7400 strength chains for 27 dollars are looking tempting... or is it just stupidity?

I can't find the specs for the original chain so I have nothing to compare to. I really would like a good O' ring chain but really can't afford it.

Any help as always appreciated.

TIA

I say O-ring all the way. Will last & last. A unsealed chain will be short lived, unless top quality. Saw some chains on Ebay $65 + shipping.

Short lived is fine because I'll buy a good one next season. Here is what I am looking at, for bikes with a lot more power than mine so I think it will do.

Use new sprockets or it will not last long, also some proper chain lube, so it will stick to the chain. Might consider soaking it over night in oil, then hanging it to drip before installing. This will get oil in to the rollers.

How about $52.00 for a:

Item Title: 530 106 LINK RK TAKASAGO O-RING MOTORCYCLE DRIVE CHAIN

Now that's a sweet deal!

:woohoo:

Need to get that good teflon spray at home depot and I'm done with this part of the project.

The stock gears are 16/38, you can fit a 17T on the front, but an 18T front won't fit. I sure wish it would, but it won't.

Don't screw with cheap chains, Z1 Enterprises has the best prices on a good X-ring chain and steel sprockets. You really don't want an ebay chain.

RK is a great chain, a lot of Harleys use these.

Working on a list for my next Z1 order now that I saved a few bux :)

Thanks again!

Edit: I see I typed 18/38 in the OP, was a typo meant 17/38
