So I was just wondering if you could say use a KX 450 swing arm or something simalr ?? mabe the front forks and wheels to ?? I like the spoke rims and dirt bike rims have endless posibilties . I know the dirt bike is lighter than my kz but off road bikes are built to be rode hard. so with some tuning and re valving . Mabe right??

just food for thought:side:

I'm not sure what your goal is. Your avatar says "just want a good rideable bike for me and the wife." I doubt that dirt bike suspension on a KZ700 on the street will be ideal to meet that target. I especially wonder about the rationale behind wanting a dirtbike swingarm. Why not look at street oriented products if your current configuration doesn't meet your requirements? There are some really good aftermarket shocks available. Ed

I think the biggest problem you will run into with a late model 450 class bike suspension is the amount of suspension travel. 12" on a modern motocrosser is alot compared to street bikes. You may end up smashing your header.....

the easiest way to do a suspension upgrade, is to take something off a bike of similar weight and style.
in the end u want a bike that handles as good or better than before.
if u use motocross stuff , the suspension is designed for a very light bike that uses huge travel in comparison. so u will likely have to spend a lot of money and time(trial and error) to get it set up right.
u would have to find a local suspension guru . most shops will only have data to adjust stock shocks. NO ONE will have specks for this custom application. Moto x valveing and damping will be very much dif. than street.
u may find that light alum motocross rims flex under leaning loads of a 500lb bike as well?

Well... I like the idea of a super-moto looking KZ :) but you may have to do a bit more mods then just an arm and head change.

I am playing with the whacky idea to do this to a CBX.
