I'm sure this was already covered somewhere, but I'm in a bit of a hurry and if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I have a 1978 KZ1000 LTD and I want to lower it a bit. I know I can drop the front a bit by sliding the forks up, and I read on here about some lowering brackets that JC Whitney sells but their website said it only fits bikes with rear drum brakes and mine has a rear disk. I don't rally want to buy new shocks and only want a subtle drop, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 77 LTD. Shorter shocks is the route I took. Cutting out an inch of my kick stand also had to be done

I always cut the stock bottom shock bracket off of the swingarm.
Then drilled a 3/8hole right below that spot.
Dropped the rear an inch or so.
A nice hardened 3/8" bolt and some washers.
Never had a problem.
Still have to lower the kickstand.
You can always find a stock swingarm on ebay to cut or replace down the road for putting back to original.

dont lower the front without first lowering rear of bike, try adjusting preload on rear shocks to lower setting
