1979 kz1000 rear brakes

hello ppl finally i found a site that i can relate to
i have a 1979 kz1000 shaft drive with only about 20000 miles but i need parts in the worst way i have been riding with only front brake for the last year does anyone have a pedal return spring pushrod and master cylinder. i am running out of places to search and i figure we classic kz riders need to stay mobile so anyone who can help or needs any parts talk to me

is that mastercylinder the same as ltd with a seperate resevoir,or is it all together like 77-78:whistle:

I'm guessing that it's a seperate set-up,unlike the 77 KZ1000,one piece.I just checked My parts pages,and I also looked on

but there's no pics for the 79 model...only part desciptions.:huh:

i belive its a seperate resivior i know a 77 wont it up
but ther hasn't been one on there since i bought it

The 79-80 are different from the earlier models. Not sure about the later ones. Damn if you would have got ahold of me a year ago I had the whole set up I tossedin the trash!

79ST used a master cylinder only used on that bike. I'm sure other master cylinders could be used, but that part # was only used on the 79ST.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Most any rear master should work. Might need a small piece of metal to adapt mounting holes.

i found the rear mastercylinder but still seeking the rod pedal and return spring

Those 42.8mm pistons fit the one in the photo just fine. I thank you mightly! My swing arm and torque bar also look just like your 74, chrome and all. This bike has had some loving in the past. I'm beginning to wonder if it is stock 1015cc or not.
Sorry for hijacking thread. You may be able to use a piece of steel rod with the end ground and a spring from the hardware store. I can probably scare you up a rod from the scrap bin.
How long does it need to be? Suspect diameter is about the same and not critical for all these rear brakes.
