79 Kz1000 singarm question

Is the 77 Kz1000 swingarm is same as the 79 KZ1000 LTD swingarm...What i want to know is. Will it work without any modication....Thanks

the swingarm should be the same,the brake caliper is differant on ltd but will still fit. goodluck,happy wrenching!

If it's a KZ1000A vs a 1979 LTD, no they are not the same. Kawasaki didn't use A parts on a LTD ever. Length will probably be different and for sure LTD chrome chainguard which is crap will not mount to the plastic chainguard mounts on a 1977 KZ1000A.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

yeah the chaingaurd mounts might be differant ,but im sure the lengh and width should be pretty close.

i just got to thinking my dad bought the red 78a2 ive got in spring of 79,it came with a chrome steel chaingaurd,not the plasic one that swingarm also has an extra mount on the chain side i never figured out what it goes to though.

As far as I know The only real difference is that the 1979 swingarm will have 2 bearing on each side and the 1977 will only have one so when doing the conversion make sure you use the swingarm bolt from the 1979. It has a wider machined area.
