Hi guys, I know this has been a topic on here a ton of times but i'm relatively new to the site and am having a hard time finding solid answers on swapping a '93 Suzuki GSXR 750 inverted forks over to my '77 KZ 1000. I want to have everything figured out before I tear the front end off the bike and have nothing to ride. I was told welding the Kz stem and the GSXR stem together is an option. Do I use the stock kz neck bearings with this set up? What have others done?
THANKS!
THANKS!

Do some research. You will probably have to press the stem out of the gsxr triples and install the kz stem into the gsxr triples. then you can use the bearings from a kz.

+1 on what thompsonmx100 says. I'm doing this on my bike with '95 GSXR forks (same as '93) and a '78 KZ1000. Look for Testarossa's fighter build thread. I have lots of pictures and fairly detailed instructions on everything that I have done so far. I'll be happy to explain anything that doesn't make sense or whatever. Also, mark1122, OldManRock, porchev914, and others have done similar swaps. It's really not that hard once you get it all figured out.

Here ya go Panny, this guy was asking the same question, and Old Man Rock posted a link to a PDF he created about his front end swap. I really can't be included in testarossa's list, I am going the cop out route and having a fellow KZR member make me some custom triple clamps. I WAS going to chop the donor stem flush with the bottom triple, chuck it in a lathe and turn the i.d. to match the o.d of the Kz stem. Push the Kz stem into the donor stem/bushing, then weld stem to bushing. Install new bearing and viola! New front end. There are other considerations like steering radius limitations and lighting mounting and others I'm sure. But that is the dirty basics, or at least one way to do it.
