If you have a fresh cush drive your play should be about 1/16" or less. That is about what I have on my GPz1100 with a 29 year old cush.

I have about 1/4" in my KZ750H3. It has never bothered me and has never gotten worse. But, that said, does anyone have a pic of what it looks like in there? Trying to figure how shims would be installed.

Kinda looks like a thick legged rubber spider designed to fit in the openings of the wheel between the rear sprocket carrier.

On the 900 those units are individual and they snap into the pockets with little "nubs". To shim old dampers, all you have to do is to take the sprocket drive hub and on the protrusions that go into these dampers just glue rubber from an old inner tube around each casting. Than just insert normally. It will depend on how warn the old dampers are.

Hummm...kinda looks like a designer chocolet donut! It's clear what it does, but why did Kawa consider it necessary?

It absorbs the "snatch" when shifting gears making the power transmission from the engine to the drive system somewhat smoother.
