Can anyone tell me if the frames are basically the same between a 1977 KZ650 and a 1980 KZ650 LTD? The LTD doesn't have the "duck tail", and has a smaller (16"?) mag rear wheel (still drum brakes) and the tank has a little bit different shape (a little bit coffin-shaped, I'd say.) I'd love it if the tank, seat, and ducktail from a '77 would drop right onto the LTD frame, along with the spoke 18" rear wheel. Will they?
It's been a while since I "lived and breathed" KZ650s, so my memory on these details has faded...

IIRC there is slightly more rake in the neck to accomidate for the longer forks. I would think the backbone is the same though.

Only part of those frames that will be identical are the motor mount areas...The rake is different, the spine and tank mounts are different, and the rear is completely different, nowhere to mount the duckbill and the seat mounts plus brake system mounts will be different because of the different wheel sizes...
