83 GPZ1100 rear shock replacement was created by VAengineer
Hi Guys
I have a 83 GPZ/ZX 1100 A1 the first 'Uni-Track' model. I'm trying to find a better and cheaper alternative to replace my old monoshock with.
I have seen in here somewhere that a GSXR unit may fit with not much trouble.
Has anyone out there performed this conversion and can offer up some advise or alternatives or even better a shock and spring setup they want to sell?
Have a heart guys i'm Australian, these parts are not easy to find here.
Thanks.

Ive got an old gsxr 1100 that I just replaced the old remote resevoir shock on.try looking around at later model bikes and see for length wise what may fit. om mine I found a 04 750 gsxr fit by just bolting it in.it did raise the rear of the bike about an inch.only thing to look for in my case was length and what location the resvoir was located.also if the ends are forked or spindle.resevoir position was important on mine due to clearance of the air box. I think I paid like 35 dollars for mine. try going gsxr because there are tons of used parts out there

Thanks guys for the advice, it's appreciated.
I will check the shock length and take some measurements, i know it uses an eye hole for the top mount and a U section for the lower mount, not sure of the arrangement on the GSXR1100 but it's sounding like a option as the GPZ should fit into the weight range of the spring.

thanks for the response.
I ended up finding a original WP shock on ebay for it at a good price, needs a rebuild but it still should work out OK.
I did find out that a 88-90 GSX1100 shock will fit but the prong on the end of the GSX shock is slightly different.
Might help someone else with a question like this.
