where to get valve stems
03 Apr 2010 15:25
Anyone have a good link to valve stems for tubeless wheels? (Stock Enkei 7-spoke rims).
Stem part is 16126-1136
I checked Z1 and couldn't find anything.

Loud, take an old valve stem to any tire store or automotive jobber, & ask for two. rubber valve stems generally come in two heights, steel in straight & 90 degree bends, occasionally w/ different rim hole diameters. you'll be fine. G

Thanks, will the rubber ones work even though the stock ones are threaded steel?

You might try asking at a cycle shop - if there's one nearby. Sometimes they give stuff like that away.

I don't actually need one from what I can tell, but everytime I go to get a tire changed, they say they don't have that type of stem and it should be replaced. I always tell them to change the tire without changing the stem and it hasn't been a problem.
However, the rubber seals are now showing signs of cracking, but are not yet leaking. Maybe I just need the o-ring or whatever type of seal is on there, but I suspect the shop will want to change the entire stem and I want to have one on hand just in case. So will a regular, rubber car stem work?
I don't have a bare wheel to even check the actual hole diameter.

I have seen some on eBay. Trick ones that are at a 90. I do not know the stem size though. Call a Kaw dealer they would be able to tell you the size I bet.
Here is the 90 I was talking about.

I basically forgot about it... the weather must have gotten better and I went riding.
I've had a couple tires replaced since, and still haven't had an issue using the old ones.
TO find the hole size, maybe you can unscrew the locknut and just push the stem into the tire. Obviously you won't be able to get it back out without removing the tire.
