Will master cylinder from kz 650b fit kz1000b

will the front master cylinder from a 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 B fit my 77 kz 1000b1 ltd?

If your 1000 is single disc, yes. If not, no.

Yeah, you need something from a dual disk model.

The one you need has 5/8 embossed on the bottom, that is the size for the dual disk. The single disk has a smaller piston but looks identical other than the 5/8 embossing.

You can use a front brake mc from just about any Japanese bike, including more modern models. The basic criteria: 7/8" bars, dual disk or single disk, mirror orifice & mount angle. The brake lite wires can be spliced, if needed. And the brake lever may not match the other side.

Also, usa-motorcycles (sp?) on ebbaay sells a variety of new aftermarket units. Others have installed them & seemed to be pleased w them. I contacted them a while back about replacement parts for doing future repairs & they said that rebuild kits n such are available. I've wondered but never checked to see if JCWhitney or other places sell them.

Z1 has rebuild kits for the master cylinders...and the calipers too (I've had to get the caliper ones before)!

U can use a single disc master on a dual disk bike. I have done it ,no troubles. but if u realy want to improve things, use a more modern bikes master.I dont know what is dif. but they work better.
