Ebay Case Guards

Thanks to all for warm welcome on my new member thread. Being as I am cheap,ignorant, and lazy , I wanted to ask if case guards listed to fit 1977-1981 "KZ1000 A/B/C/D" will fit 1981 KZ1000J; and if non-interchangeability is due to anything significant. (they also fit 73-75 Z1 and 76-77 KZ900).

I have both a 1978 B model and a 1982 M model (which should have a similar frame as your 81 J).

If the case guards are the side-mount style that attach to the motor mounts, then the answer is likely no--not compatible. The motor mounts are in different locations on these two frame styles.

If you are talking about the front-mounted "cattle catcher" style, then it might work.

Thanks for the info.... though I wish I could use the case guards.... they are brand new in package and listed for low price.

just dont crash and it wont matter....case guards always make me uneasy when i see em.....why...who knows...hell..i wear a helmet,,,,hey by the way...if you don't mind me asking...what did you pay for the jmodel..i watch em on e-bay to get a feel for what they fetch...one day.....i need to buy one to look at next to mine so i can put mine together then sell one...i am not getting very far....ect....i see em go for good deals sometimes just always back east...

If you ever come across old MCEnterprises case guards that have the part number, you can call the company to check or verify the fitment. That's what I did prior to getting a nos set off of ebbaayy. Without the part number I don't know how helpful they'd be.

It always comes down to that... How many dollars and do I have any sense. I hesitate to hang my oil stained undies on the mailbox for all the neighbors to laugh at... so i'll just mail em to ya, tri. check that inbox.

These were listed as #2002 and the MC enterprises website said I needed #2025, but I was just hoping it was more a matter of mounting hardware than a matter of frame mountpoints..... coulda been a hundred dollar savings if so...
So being lazy and all, just thought mebbe I'd look for free info here..... before i started tryna research frame differences on my own.
