Extending a Shaft Drive

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationFirst off, that's what she said.

I was looking on Ebay and saw this bike

I have a 1979 Shaft drive and think it would be cool to have it extended. How difficult is this and does anyone know anyone that's done this before. My local builder advised against it.

Yes, it is possible but would require a large bag of money, I'd imagine. There was an extended shaft Z1300 prepared by a group in Germany (Klasmo...and they have subsequently sold the business...and the business has gone away). The bike was often presented at shows in Europe but I haven't seen it on the web in some time.

Mr Turbo used to do it to the 1300 when they added their turbo kit. It is only a little more work than when extending any other box swingarm.

i built a turboed kz1300 about 15 years ago for a customer and we strecthed the swingarm 4" and widened the wheel out to 4.5 " a company in calgary did the wheel and one of my best freinds did the strectch on the swing arm and drive shaft the swing arm was easy but he had to machine up a completly new drive shaft the man was a genius. unfortunatly he died suddenly on us two years ago so i can't help you with details but suffice it to say it can and has been done before andd as far as i know wild bill is still riding the freakin wheels of that bike i have pictures somewhere but they are home in sask. so i can't get them until the middle of june or i'd put them up for it was a really cool build up.

I know this may sound out there but try looking at some V-max websites. Some of those guys have their swingarm/driveshafts lengthened. Maybe you can get some ideas or find companies that will do that kind of work.

Thanks for the replies.

Good idea about checking a V-Max website, I hadn't thought of that.
