Hello,

I was wondering if members can help me out. I am building a KZ streetfighter, and it is based off of an 1980 KZ1000 LTD frame. I took it apart about 10 years ago, and I can not figure something out. The front of the battery box attaches to an angle iron bracket with some bolts and rubber mounts, and the left side of the bracket attaches to the left motor mount plate (the plate has an "ear" bent over with a welded on nut on the backside). The right side is confusing me. All I can find in the box of parts from disassembly is a right motor mount that has the three holes for the frame and engine bolt, plus the little bracket for the rear brake light switch. There is no provision for the right side battery box attachment to the angle iron bracket. At my dad's house there are two parts bikes, one is a 77'? (made in 10-76) KZ1000. I think 76's were KZ 900s so it has to be an early KZ1000. The rear master cylinder mount is channel shaped, with an angle bracket welded on the back to mount the battery box angle iron. The angle iron piece is shorter than the one I had from the box of 1980 parts. The other parts bike is a 79' KZ1000 that is setup the same way. I would just buy the part new from ron ayers if I was confident I had the right part number, but I have no confidence now. After looking at the (crappy) pictures on the microfiche on Kawasaki.com, I am starting to think that the only model that used the part I need is the 1976 KZ900. The microfiche picture for the 1977 KZ1000 makes the bracket look the same, but the part number is different between 76 and 77, and as I mentioned the 77 parts bike I have uses a welded on tab. I know the part exists because I found the ebay auction:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dragbike-KZ-Z1-M...fPartsQ5fAccessories

You can see in the pictures the angle iron pc. that the battery box mounts to, and the two rear motor mounts-both with "ears" that the angle pc. mounts to. I think the part I need is 32030-056, a right rear engine mount off of a 1976 KZ900. Can members help me verify that this is the part I am looking for?

I also looked at the fiche for the 1980 LTD and the bracket looks like the one I need in the fiche picture, part # 32029-1024 (but it already seems like the fiche pictures can be misleading). I would order that one if it were not for the fact that the parts box from disassembly had a right rear engine mount (that I think is from this bike...) that does not have the "ear".

Holy frustration Batman.

Thanks,

Josh

Hello again,

I might have not been clear as to the help I need-can members with 1976 KZ900s look at their bikes to see if the right hand rear engine mount is used to support the battery box bracket? I think I was inferring in my post that I want people to figure out the part number. What I really need is someone to just verify that the part in the picture I need is on a 1976 KZ900.

Thanks,

Josh

Not sure I'm following correctly so maybe these images will help... '76 KZ900...

The right side bracket w/brake light sending unit mount is used to support the battery cage via the horizontal plate #26.... SKU: 32113-003 PLATE,BATTERY CASE

Probably not going to find this part here but OEM Fiche part number files can be found here...

www.kawasakipartshouse.net/pages/parts/v...rand/9/Kawasaki.aspx

You could always have one made or buy off e-bay... Maybe someone here has a spare...

I think that #43 bracket is what I want, part number 32030-056. Your right hand bracket looks just like the one pictured in my original post, right? I can order one off of ronayers for 8.67, but I just want to make sure I am ordering the right thing. What confuses me so much is that the cross bar-#26 from the box of parts I have is the long one. The short cross bars were used with the tab welded to the back of the caliper mounts on 77, 78, and 79s. The bike was originally an 80' LTD, and I do not know what bracket was used on it. I found the right rear engine bracket that I thought was on this 80' but it has no tab for the #26 bar, only a tab for the rear brake light switch. I don't know if the 80' used a right rear engine mount like your 76', or if I lost a bracket that bolted on the back of the caliper. Thanks for the help.

Well my '76 KZ900 had number #26... I'll see if I still have that piece somewhere for I had to fab up a new battery cage for my build....

Either way, ~ $9 is a real decent price...

I actually need the #43 piece not the #26 piece, and I do not have any problems paying for one. I just wanted to make sure that the 1976 KZ900 actually had the piece I was looking for (shown in the picture in my first post). I was also curious if someone out there had a 1980 KZ1000 LTD or regular KZ1000 to see how the #26 pc was mounted on one of those bikes.

Thanks,

Josh

The part I need is discontinued from Kawasaki. Does anyone have a right rear engine mount off of a 1976 KZ900 that they are willing to part with? It needs to look like the rr engine mount in the picture in my initial post.

Thanks,

Josh
