Z1R 18" Wheel

So, I sniped an auction for an 18" Z1R wheel on ebay and have been congratulating myself ever since.

I got the wheel today, however, and when I run a tape measure across the wheel, I get 19 1/8".

Is the seller the one chuckling?

Isn't 18" the diameter of the inside of the tire? So I can see the wheel measuring more.

I'm with T_Dub on this one... it's the inner part of the rim, not the outter most part. Is it the rear, or the front, ZIR wheel? All the rears were 18", but I think they had both 18"&19" fronts?

I guess that makes sense if the operative measurement is the tire, bead-to-bead. The lip on the wheel measures 9/16". Doubling that to account for the other lip comes to 1 1/8". Subtracting that from 19 1/8" comes to 18". I hope that means I'm OK.

Does anyone have a regular 19" mag off the bike with no rotor that they could measure?

Thanks

Z1R had an 18" front rim for one year, I believe.

Sorry, no cam. The rims look identical, though, so I don't see where it'd make a difference.

And its definitely a rear wheel? I've never heard of a 19" rear cast wheel from the 70's.

The size is clearly cast into the rim. This one is 18" and is 2.15 wide. this rim is from a KZ1300. Yes and it measures 19 1/8"

Sorry, I didn't understand. Hopefully someone else reads this, I'd measure my 19" front but its 100 miles away.

yes...I have several 19" front wheels I could measure...one off a 1982 KZ750R1 should measure the same as the D model. Otokar is correct...the size should be cast into the wheel...mine is cast as a 19" and measures 20" across the rim - edge to edge.
