reservoir shock idea?

In the midst of researching shock options for my GS1100 swingarm swap, I ran into some mono shocks from dirt bikes that are selling pretty reasonable.
If you check Ebay for "KX65/RM65 shock", you'll see what I mean.
I was hypothesizing that maybe a couple of these dirt bike mono shocks installed onto my much heavier KZ might work, being they're clevis mounted like my GS swingarm. And they look cool.
Anybody ever tried this?

First of all the reservoir is in the wrong spot and second I believe that the shock is going to be way to short.

Well 13"+ is not to short but the spread on the forks will be a question and the top pivot will be another question. But the fact remains that the reservoir will stick straight out and will be dangerous.

Was already thinking about shimming/bushing the clevis spread, but didn't even look at the upper eye/reservoir orientation.
I have some Goldwing shocks, but they only measure 13.25" c/c. Thinking 14" might be better.

I have a set of Leadwing (Progressive 12-1205B) on my GPz1150 and they are perfect.

You can see all the clearance there is in the back.

They might even be about a 1/2 inch too long. You can see that the rear wheel touches the ground when it is on the center-stand.

Look for some ZRX shocks. tey aren't cheap, but they fit and work. I just sold a set for $305 on ebay. You might also look for a pair from one the Zephyrs, (ZR550,750,1100). None of these will work if you switch to a clevis type swing arm though. If you are interested I have a ZR750 swing arm and wheel that I may be interested in getting rid of. They are nice; they have the eccentric adjusters. PM me if interested

I picked these up a while back on ebay. They make changeable eyes or the clevis for the GS. I live them compared to what I had.
