Hi. ive got a kz900. My chain and rear sprocket are about shot. Im going to replace the stock probably original stuff. now i think the stock stuff 15/35 sprockets and 92 link chain which I researched on here. ive also know that people change the sizes for different reasons. are those the stock sizes and is best to stay with stock? Thanx

15/35 is stock for a US spec. KZ900A4/A5. Whether you change ratios will depend on what type of riding you do...highways miles vs. stoplight-to-stoplight miles.

Here... Maybe this will help...

Stock 15/35 92 link pitch 630 chain = 2.33 gear ratio

Works this way:
You want a little added zipp "stop light to stop light, acceleration" either increase the rear or decrease the cc sprocket.

NOTE: There is a cost for that though, slight increase in rpm so more wear and tear on the engine, decreased gas mileage and a loss of top end speed...

You want more cruise Freeway, lower rpm, better gas mileage but you loose the zip factor...

As McDroid stated, depends on your riding preferences...

Getting the front sprocket off is a bitch but keep at it and it will come off. You might have to jam a hunk of wood in it to hold the sprocket so you can get the nut off. Also buy a new keeper thinggy that keeps the sprocket from coming loose.

Remove the front sprocket first thing. Put the bike in first gear and if it won't hold have someone hold the rear brake.

If it were me i would go with the smaller but as strong 530chain set up.

I bought mine from Jeff at Z1enterprises. They are a sponser of this site and great people to deal with. Roy
