i'm thinking about putting Dunlop F11 on the front and Dunlop K627 on the back. Anyone have any experiences with these tires? I have a 83 750LTD.
BTW, the local and only MC shop gets $75 per wheel for install, with an attitude.

Mmmm, Guess I don't want to live in one of the largest cities on the east coast then..only 1 bike shop nearby??

Is that the price to remove the wheel from the bike, change the tire, balance, and install the wheel back on? It's high but doesn't sound too bad. There are other shops around, keep looking. You can order some tire irons from the web for $20, get the tires while you're at it. Buy some stick on weights and balance it yourself, can't you?

yes,thats the price for the total dismount and remount w/ balance.
Found a local garage that also works on bikes that will do it for $50 per wheel, $25 per wheel if I bring him the wheel already dismounted.
That leads me to my next question. How hard is it to pull the wheels off the bike.
It seems like the front looks easier than the rear.
Do the brake calipers need to be disassembled?
I am getting the wheels off the web, much cheaper even with shipping.
What do you think about the the Dunlops I'm thinking of buying?

Hey that price is pretty good, I paid $25 or $35 for a mount/balance on my rear tire. I haven't had experience with Dunlops, but it's a brand name. Can you Google them to find some reviews?

This bike is your avatar? A shaft drive is something I don't have experience with.

I removed my wheels and it was pretty straight forward. Do you have a manual to guide you? Doing it yourself gives you a chance to check the brakes and other rear end stuff. And the front is easier to remove, just put a thin stick between the brake caliper pads and wrap it with tape to keep something "bad" from happening. DAMHIKT

The calipers do not need to be removed. You may need to remove the front fender, depending how high you can get the front end up.

Actually, on the bikes with dual disc brakes up front you need to remove one of the calipers to get the wheel out. (The caliper mount on that side needs to be removed too, so I just remove the entire assembly by unbolting the caliper mount at the fork interconnection (2 bolts).)

I don't mean to hijack this thread but has anyone used Perelli MT 66's on a 550? I know where I can get a pretty good deal on a set but don't want to buy something I'm not going to be happy with.

do you have a website for tires? I looked at www.tiresunlimited.com and www.motoshopper.com which offers free shipping. However I dont know if they are first run tires and not blems.
