Shorter shocks?

What stock shocks from other bikes can I mount on my KZ750H that are shorter then the stock KZ750 ones (maybe by 2")? I can't afford custom shortening, but could probably find a good set of used stock somewhere.

They are the stock ones that came with the bike.

According to someone here (Andy the Gringo maybe?), Vulcan 500 shocks are shorter than stock & are a direct bolt-on. I believe the 750Ltd shocks are ~13.5" eye-to-eye. The Vulcans are somewhere around 11-12" eye-to-eye. Or...

You might be able to use HD Sportster shocks - lowering or huggers (the stock Sportys are ~13.25 eye-to-eye). The bushings & dampers will have to be swapped (no big deal). The bottom mount on them is wider than the KZ's, so you'd have to grind them down ~4mm or spread the swingarm mount open a tad. Also, if you keep the stock chrome chain guard, the Sportys will be very close & may rub it.

Yep that's one of my favorite mods to do to a KZ since I'm a bit short in the inseam. Any of the Vulcan shocks 500/750 etc will bolt right on. The 750's are air adjustable and have adjustments for the dampning as well but they tend to fetch a bit more on ebay than the 500 Vulcan shocks do. IIRC I paid like $30.00 for one set and $40.00 for the other set.

Here is a pic of the 500 Vulcan shocks mounted on one of my 650's.

Hummm...may be the angle of the pic, but you're bike pic doesn't really look any lower to me. How much lower is it then with the stock KZ shocks? And is there a specific year Vulcan 500 shock to look for?
